eDirham to be replaced with Magnati from 30 October 2022
The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) is in the advanced stages of a development that will impact the payment details provided as part of tax/excise payments.
The FTA has replaced eDirham option with Magnati for all types of transactions, with effect from 30 October 2022. This move has been made to support taxpayers in meeting their tax obligation deadline and the Ministry of Finance’s decision to decommission the eDirham platform as a payment method for government services.
Magnati is a solution from the First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) offering payment options for prepaid, debit and credit cards issued by Visa and Mastercard.
Apart from Magnati, taxpayers will also be able to settle their dues using additional options listed below:
Banks and Exchange Houses
Bank Transfer – Local Transfer
Bank Transfer – International Transfer
Please be reminded that effective 1 October 2022, “Tax” is the only valid purpose of payment for FTA payments.
Our Comments
As a way forward, taxpayers should contact their banks for redeeming eDirham card balance, if any. Furthermore, taxpayers should also check with their bank and FTA portal for said amendment to ensure payment is not delayed.
